In August 2022, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and sharing some cheese with HRH King Charles III at a local event!
He was then still know as Prince Charles, or the Duke of Rothesay when he is in Scotland, and was in Hoy for a private visit to Melsetter House but took the time to meet with a few local businesses.
Although he didn't actually say it, there was a definite glint in his eye as he was eating a piece of Burnside Cheese, so this could very well be the next royal cheese!!!! 😉
A few of the local food and drink producers joined together to create a hamper of Orkney delights for Prince Charles to take away with him, Burnside Cheese was included, so I hope his Royal Highness enjoyed a few oatcakes and cheese.
