News updates

It has been a busy year so far for Burnside Cheese. Not only have we been keeping up with demand for our popular Burnside range, but also been working behind the scenes to bring back a popular Westray range that fell out of production last year.

Our new flavours have just been released and are already proving popular, flying off the shelves at our various outlets across Orkney. Why not try them out for yourself? All the creamy, tasty goodness of Burnside with an added kick of chilli, or a sprinkle of pepper and chives, or home smoked with beechwood.

In August 2022, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and sharing some cheese with HRH King Charles III at a local event!
He was then still know as Prince Charles, or the Duke of Rothesay when he is in Scotland, and was in Hoy for a private visit to Melsetter House but took the time to meet with a few local businesses.
Although he didn’t actually say it, there was a definite glint in his eye as he was eating a piece of Burnside Cheese, so this could very well be the next royal cheese!!!! 😉
A few of the local food and drink producers joined together to create a hamper of Orkney delights for Prince Charles to take away with him, Burnside Cheese was included, so I hope his Royal Highness enjoyed a few oatcakes and cheese.

It’s been a busy summer promoting Burnside Cheese at shows and events across Orkney. If you spot our distinctive blue banner around the county, feel free to come over for a taste and a chat. We love to meet our customers.
